What stays on your device
Everything you enter into the tool is processed in your browser. Saved work is kept in your browser's local storage and never sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
Your meter data and Octopus API key
CSV files are read inside your browser and never uploaded. If you use the Octopus option, your browser sends your account number and API key directly to api.octopus.energy to download your readings; the key is held in memory only while the page is open and is never stored or sent to us. Your postcode is sent only to the Octopus grid-supply-point lookup to find your electricity region.
Saved scenarios and letters
Saved scenarios (your inputs and, if you choose to save them, your half-hourly readings) and the permission-pack form are kept in your browser’s local storage. Use “Export scenarios” to keep a copy; clearing site data deletes them.
What we store
- Beta list. If you join it, we store your email address, the option you picked and the page you joined from, to email you about this tool. Nothing else, and we never sell or share it.
- Anonymous usage counts. When you use a feature we record the event name, the page and your country (from the network). No cookies, no identifiers, no IP addresses, nothing you typed.

On Cloudflare (Pages and D1), which hosts this site.
Your rights
To see or delete your beta-list entry, use the unsubscribe link in any email or reply to it, and we will delete it within 30 days.
